{"id":6660,"date":"2020-09-18T15:41:08","date_gmt":"2020-09-18T19:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/notes.math.ca\/?post_type=article&#038;p=6660"},"modified":"2020-09-25T13:59:44","modified_gmt":"2020-09-25T17:59:44","slug":"2021-excellence-in-teaching-award-3","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/notes.math.ca\/en\/article\/2021-excellence-in-teaching-award-3\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 Excellence in Teaching Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"6660\" class=\"elementor elementor-6660\" data-elementor-post-type=\"article\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3ddf5c93 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3ddf5c93\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-5f220c31\" data-id=\"5f220c31\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3d155625 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3d155625\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The CMS Excellence in Teaching Award Selection Committee invites nominations for the <strong>2021 Excellence in Teaching Award<\/strong>.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/proto.cms.math.ca\/awards\/excellence-in-teaching-award\/\"><strong>Excellence in Teaching Award<\/strong><\/a> focuses on the recipient&#8217;s proven excellence as a teacher at the undergraduate level, including at universities, colleges and c\u00e9geps, as exemplified by unusual effectiveness in the classroom and\/or commitment and dedication to teaching and to students. \u00a0The dossier should provide evidence of the effectiveness and impact of the nominee&#8217;s teaching. The prize recognizes sustained and distinguished contributions in teaching at the post-secondary undergraduate level at a Canadian institution. Only full-time teachers or professors who have been at their institution for at least five years will be considered. The nomination will remain active for three years, with a possibility to update.<\/p><p>The CMS aims to promote and celebrate diversity in the broadest sense.\u00a0 We strongly encourage department chairs and nominating committees to put forward nominations for outstanding colleagues regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.<\/p><p>A nomination will consist of:<\/p><ul><li>a signed nominating statement from a present or past colleague, or collaborator (no more than three pages) having direct knowledge of the nominee\u2019s contribution;<\/li><li>a curriculum vitae (maximum five pages);<\/li><li>three letters of support, at least one from a former student (who has followed a course more than a year ago) and one from the chair of the nominee\u2019s unit. The letter of the Chair of the nominee\u2019s unit could include a one-page summary on information from student evaluations, or similar information;<\/li><li>other supporting material (maximum 10 pages).<\/li><\/ul><p>Nominations and reference letters should be submitted electronically, preferably in PDF format, to: <a href=\"mailto:etaward@cms.math.ca\"><strong>etaward@cms.math.ca<\/strong><\/a> no later than the deadline of <strong>November 15,
