This is an opportunity for students to engage with mathematics and STEM activities and have their mathematical talent recognized.<br \/>We invite all math teachers, school principals, and any other willing proctors to nominate students identifying as Black or Indigenous to take part in this competition.<\/p><h3><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Students who identify as Black or Indigenous;<\/li><li>Students must be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents;<\/li><li><p>Students must fulfill the <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.cms.math.ca\/Competitions\/COMC\/2020\/awardsprizes.html\">COMC eligibility criteria<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.math.ca\/competitions\/canadian-mathematical-gray-jay-competition-cmgc\/\">Gray Jay eligibility criteria<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Prizes and Awards<\/strong><\/h3><p>In Addition to<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.cms.math.ca\/Competitions\/COMC\/2020\/awardsprizes.html\"> various COMC prizes<\/a>, students who take part in the Closing the Gap Initiative are automatically entered in a random draw to win on of 4 $500 prizes for their school to be spent on math and STEM resources.<\/p><h3><strong>Free Webinars<\/strong><\/h3><p>In 2020, the CMS organised a series of free preparatory webinars for Black and Indigenous students taking part in the Canadian Open Mathematics Competition.
