Plus de 650 math\u00e9maticien.e.s se sont rassembl\u00e9.e.s \u00e0 l\u2019H\u00f4tel Chelsea de Toronto pour la R\u00e9union d\u2019hiver de la SMC du 9 au 9 d\u00e9cembre. Les participant.e.s ont assist\u00e9 aux 33 sessions scientifiques, 6 conf\u00e9rences pl\u00e9ni\u00e8res, 4 conf\u00e9rences prononc\u00e9es par les laur\u00e9at.e.s et une conf\u00e9rence publique dans le cadre de la R\u00e9union. Maria Chudnovsky (Princeton); Sarah Mayes-Tang (Toronto); Antonio Montalban (Berkeley); Kirsten Morris (Waterloo); Malabika Pramanik (UBC) et Lauren K. Williams (Harvard) ont prononc\u00e9 les conf\u00e9rences pl\u00e9ni\u00e8res. <\/span><\/p>

La SMC a aussi repris son programme des mini-cours de 3 heures, offert pour la premi\u00e8re fois en juin dernier. En tout, dix mini-cours sur les sujets math\u00e9matiques divers ont eu lieu le 9 d\u00e9cembre avant la conf\u00e9rence pl\u00e9ni\u00e8re.<\/span><\/p>

La soir\u00e9e de vendredi s\u2019est ouverte sur la conf\u00e9rence publique de David Earn (McMaster) intitul\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Puzzles in the Patterns of Plagues\u00a0\u00bb, suivie de la performance d\u2019un groupe musical gamelan balinais domin\u00e9e par les instruments de percussion. Les participant.e.s ont eu ensuite la chance de r\u00e9seauter dans une ambiance conviviale avec d\u00e9gustations et boissons lors de la r\u00e9ception d\u2019accueil.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Le dimanche 8 d\u00e9cembre, lors du banquet des prix de la SMC, les laur\u00e9at.e.s de 2019 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9cern\u00e9.e.s les prix suivants\u00a0: prix de doctorat \u00e0 Mikhail Karpukin (Irvine, en Californie); prix Coxeter-James \u00e0 Jacob Tsimerman (Toronto); prix Adrien-Pouliot \u00e0 Tina Hohn (MacEwan); prix Graham Wright pour le service m\u00e9ritoire \u00e0 M. Karl Dilcher (Dalhousie); prix G. de B. \u00e0 Lars Louder (University College London) et \u00e0 Henry Wilton (Cambridge); et finalement prix CRM-Fields \u00e0 Catherine Sulem (Toronto) . Le banquet a suivi une conf\u00e9rence prononc\u00e9e par Anna Krokhine, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 m\u00e9daill\u00e9e \u00e0 l’Olympiade europ\u00e9enne de math\u00e9matiques pour filles en 2018. Organiser une r\u00e9union d\u2019une telle \u00e9chelle n’aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 possible sans le d\u00e9vouement et le travail acharn\u00e9 du directeur et de la directrice scientifiques et le Comit\u00e9 scientifique de la R\u00e9union, les organisateurs et organisatrices des sessions, et les membres du Bureau ex\u00e9cutif de la SMC. La SMC tient aussi \u00e0 remercier le directeur et la directrice scientifiques Jane Heffernan et Patrick Ingram (York) qui ont consacr\u00e9 beaucoup d\u2019effort pour s\u2019assurer de la qualit\u00e9 du programme de la R\u00e9union.<\/p>
