September 2025 (Vol. 57, No. 4)

Dear mathematics and statistics students,

The Canadian Mathematical Society Student Committee (StudC) is excited to share the following opportunities and deadlines with you:

  • Notes from the Margin – Deadline October 1!

Our student-run journal is accepting submissions until October 1, 2025. Submissions don’t have to be research articles — we also welcome expository pieces, math puzzles, reflections, or fun math-related writing. Notes from the Margin is written by students, for students!

  • Host CUMC 2026 – Bids due November 14!

Applications are open to host the Canadian Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (CUMC) 2026. The CUMC is Canada’s longest-running student-run math conference, started in 1994. Hosting offers a great opportunity to unite math students from across the country.

  • CMS Winter Meeting 2025 – Student Activities

Planning and registration are underway for the Winter CMS Meeting scheduled from December 5-8, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario. StudC will again be organizing:

  • Poster Session
  • Student Research Session
  • Student Development Workshop (requires separate registration)
  • Student Social

We encourage students to get involved!
